Barcelona Spring 2014

From the 29.05. to 01.06.2014 I visited Barcelona with my aunt and uncle.

We met at Zurich Airport on a early Thursday morning. I was a bit late due to some traffic – and the airport was so crowded like I’ve never seen it before! As I wanted to check-in my luggage, an error message appeared on the self check-in machine. Eventually I finally managed to check my luggage in and met my aunt and uncle. They both love to travel and have already visited lots of different destinations.

When we arrived in Barcelona we took a taxi to the hotel, the “NH Barcelona Pódium“. The hotel is located right in the heart of Barcelona, the rooms are perfectly fine and the buffet delicious.

After a short break we went to the beach. On our way there we saw the “Arc de Triomf”, which was built in 1888. We then went on the “Transbordador”, a cable car which connects the port with the Montjuïc. From there you can get a gorgeous view over Barcelona. We visited the park “Plaça de l’Armada” there and had lunch at the “Hotel Miramar Barcelona“.

We spent the rest of the day roaming through the city and visited the cathedral “La Catedral”.

My uncle and I decided to go on a Segway tour through Barcelona. We booked it at  Barcelona Segway Tour. Our guide, Javier, told the history of Barcelona and Catalonia very humorously.

The rest of the day we spent with shopping at “La rambla” and other places.

Saturday, 31.05.2014

On Saturday, we spontaneously decided to visit the football stadium “Camp Nou” from FC Barcelona. The tour was quite impressive, and also the size of it. Afterwards I bought a football shirt for my cousin at the “megastore” from FC Barcelona.

We then took the metro to the mountain railway “Funicular de Tibidabo”, which is located in the middle of a beautiful villa quarter. We ate lunch at the top of Tibidabo and enjoyed the view over Barcelona.

On Sunday morning we took a taxi to the airport and went home to Switzerland. It was a great experience, Barcelona is a great, vivid and exciting city! I might go back there, but then in a Airbnb apartment. 🙂
